LAM Tian-xing

LAM was born in 1963 in Fuzhou, Fujian Province. He moved to Hong Kong in 1984. In 1989, he returned to the Chinese Mainland to study at the Chinese Painting Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing.

LAM has held nearly a hundred solo exhibitions and participated in over 200 group exhibitions in different regions around the world. Lam’s international experience has given him a broad artistic vision and brought global collectors. He has published more than 40 painting albums.

LAM is currently the Chairman of The Hong Kong Artists Association and the China Artists Association Hong Kong Chapter. He also serves as the Executive Vice President of HKL&A, a National Commottee Member of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, a council member of the China Artists Association, a founding council member of the Chinese Painting Institute, an overseas review expert at Tsinghua University, a visiting professor at South China Normal University. His roles further include special researcher at the Guizhou Provincial Research Institute of Literature and History, judge for the 13th China National Exhibition of Fine Arts and the China National Arts Fund, as well as a member of the Election Committee of HKSAR.

YUNG Ho-yin

YUNG, originally from Zhongshan, Guangdong, studied calligraphy and painting under the renowned Lingnan master Yang Shanshen and the former president of the China Calligraphers Association, Zhang Hai. He currently holds several prestigious positions, including Director of the China Calligraphers Association, Deputy Director of its Calligraphy Criticism and Cultural Broadcasting Committee, and Vice Chairman of the Guangdong Provincial Calligraphers Association. Additionally, he serves as an Invited Member of the College Affairs Committee at S.H. Ho College, The Chinese University of Hong Kong; Arts Education Consultant for the Hong Kong Arts Development Council; Instructor for the Calligraphy Diploma Program at the School of Professional and Continuing Education, The Chinese University of Hong Kong; Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Hong Kong’s School of Professional and Continuing Education; and Expert Reviewer for the National Arts Fund.

Mr Yung has been selected to participate in the Hong Kong Arts Biennial Exhibition seven times, receiving the Calligraphy Award at the Biennial in 1996. He was also chosen for the inaugural National New Artists Exhibition and the 3rd and 4th National Young and Middle-aged Calligraphy and Seal Carving Exhibition, where he was awarded the Excellent Works Award in the 3rd Sesson. He has been included in the 5th, 6th, 7th, and 9th National Calligraphy and Seal Carving Exhibitions, as well as the 3rd National Couplets Exhibition, the 4th National Regular Script Exhibition, and the 3rd Lanting Prize Exhibition. In 2022, his work “Yin and Yang” was supported by the National Arts Fund.

His works are collected by different institutions, including the Qinghai Provincial Museum, the Hong Kong Museum of Art, Princeton University Art Museum, Zhang Hai Art Museum, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Confucius Institute, Zhongshan City Art Museum, and Qingdao Art Museum.

ZHAO Zhijun

ZHAO, whose courtesy name is Da Jun and surname is Zhi Jing, is the chairperson of the Visual Arts Group of the Hong Kong Arts Development Council, a member of the China Artists Association, the President of the International Ink Art Society of China, and the Executive Vice Chairman of The Hong Kong Artists Association. He is also a special artist of Shenzhen Painting Academy and Shenzhen Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference. He is a specially invited researcher of the China Art Science Research Institute and an external researcher of Shaanxi Art Research Institute. He is a representative of the 11th National Congress of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and a representative of the 10th National Congress of the China Artists Association. His works have been selected for many national art exhibitions, such as the National Art Exhibition, the Beijing International Art Biennale, the Global Ink Art Exhibition, the Report Exhibition of China Art World Tour, the Shenzhen International Watercolor Painting Biennale, and the Asia Art Exhibition at the Cheong Wa Dae of South Korea. They have also been collected by numerous institutions and collectors, including the Jiangxi Provincial Art Museum, the Fujian Provincial Art Museum, Gu Yuan Art Museum, the Palace Museum, the Shaanxi Art Research Institute, the Shaanxi National Painting Academy, the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the Guangzhou Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, the Shenzhen Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, the China Communist Party History Society, Ba Zhou Art Museum, the Liaision Office of the Central People’s Governmnet in the HKSRA, Ji Gao Zhai, “Zhu Jingshe Magazine,” “Shu Shu Jiao Shi,” and “Hong Kong Literature”.

HUNG Hoi

HUNG is a professor at the School of Professional and Continuing Education of the Hong Kong University (HKUSpace) since 1984, and granted Honorary Fellowship in 2022. He was a lecturer at The Chinese University of Hong Kong and assistant Professor in the Department of Architecture of the Hong Kong University. In 1992, Hung received the “Urban Council Fine Arts Award of the Hong Kong Contemporary Art Exhibition,” “The Secretary for Home Affairs Commendation Medal” by the Government of the HKSAR in 2006, and Outstanding Award at the Chinese National Art Exhibition in 1999 and 2014. Currently Hung is the Museum Expert Advisor of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the Government of HKSAR, adjunct professor of HKUSpace, former committee member of the China Artists Association, executive chairman of The Hong Kong Artists Association, research fellow of the Cityscape Ink Institute of China National Academy of Painting, expert of China National Arts Fund Review, member of the Oversea Adjudication Board of Tsinghua University.

Hung’s major Solo Exhibitions organised in The Hong Kong Museum of Art; Shenzhen Art Gallery. Major Group Exhibitions presented in “Collecting the 20th Century” by the British Museum; Art Basel, Hong Kong; the National Exhibition of Fine Arts, China; Sotheby’s, Christie’s, and China Guardian auction show. Artworks are collected by The National Art Museum of China, the British Museum, the Hong Kong Museum of Art, the Hong Kong Heritage Museum, Legislative Council of the HKSAR and Taiwan Museum of Fine Artsa.

LIU Chengmui

LIU graduated from the Affiliated High School of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1988 and was admitted to the Central Academy of Fine Arts the same year. In 1989, she was awarded a scholarship by the Ministry of Culture to study in the former Soviet Union. She graduated from the Surikov State Academic Institute of Fine Arts in Russia in 1996 with a Master’s degree in Fine Arts.

She currently serves as a council member of the China Artists Association, Executive Vice Chairman of The Hong Kong Artists Association, and Vice President of the Guangdong Artists Association. In 2023, she was appointed as an advisor to the Education Panel of the Hong Kong Arts Development Council.

In 2011, she received the Grand Prize at the Guanlan International Print Biennial. In 2010, she was honored with the “Outstanding Mentor Award” at the inaugural China Disabled Children’s Art Festival.

In 2020, her solo exhibition “Scenic Romance” was held at the Sun Museum in Hong Kong.

Her works are part of the collections of several prestigious institutions, including Hong Kong Museum of Art, Hong Kong Heritage Museum, Jiangsu Art Museum, Zhejiang Art Museum, Guan Shanyue Art Museum, Harbin Art Palace Print Museum, Heilongjiang Art Museum, Shenzhen Fine Art Institute, and China Print Museum.

MA Tat-wai

MA is the son of the esteemed calligrapher, seal carver, and paleographer, Mr MA Kwok-kuen. While receiving training from his father, he was acquainted with Chinese painting masters since the 1970s, drawing inspiration from their distinct techniques and artistic visions. Skilled in landscape painting, he has, in recent years, integrated epigraphic calligraphy into his paintings, exploring innovative ways to transcend traditional painting. In 1991, MA received a diploma in landscape painting from the School of Continuing Education at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. A year later, he collaborated with his father on a collection of seal carvings titled Seals of the Names of Guangdong Counties and published it. In the 1990s, he began writing autobiographies and research articles on famous masters for the monthly journal “Han Mo”. In late 2012, a joint exhibition showcasing the calligraphy and seal carving works of father and son, Mr MA Kwok-kuen and Mr MA Tat-wai, was held at the Shenzhen Art Museum, accompanied by a publication. In 2015,

he was appointed as a guest artist at the Shenzhen Fine Art Institute. MA is a member of the China Artists Association and the Vice Chairman of The Hong Kong Artists Association as well as the Executive Chairman of the Chinese Ink Painting Society Hong Kong.

LAM Mozi

LAM (formerly known as Lin Jian-Rong) is currently member of the China Calligraphy Association, member of the Calligraphy Criticism and Cultural Publication Committee, Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong Chapter of the China Calligraphers Association, and seal carving instructor at Xiling Academy. In 2024, he received a grant from the China National Arts Fund for the project Urban Life Circle – Seal Carving of the Hong Kong Mass Transit Railway. He is an expert in calligraphy, painting and seal carving, and his works have been exhibited at the Hong Kong Art Biennale in 1994, 1996, 1998 and 2001, and his Chinese painting “Blue House” was selected in curated work of Chinese paintings, Lian Zheng Yun Collective, and participated in “96’ Modern Chinese Ink Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition” organized by Duoyunxuan Art Gallery.

TING Heung-ying

Master of Business Administration from Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Postgraduate of Calligraphy from Beijing Normal University. Currently a member of the Regular Script Committee of Beijing Calligraphers Association, a member of The Hong Kong Artists Association, and a director of The 4-D Art Club. Published works include “There is a Cloud in the Sky”, a fairy tale calligraphy copybook co-authored with famous writer Zheng Yuanjie in 2020.

Tien Chi

Tien Chi was born in 1949. In 1996 he was awarded the Hong Kong Urban Council Fine Art Award (Chinese Painting). He has participated in many exhibitions, including “the Hong Kong Art Biennial Exhibition” in 1983, 1987,1994, 1998, 2001, and 2003; “the Mapping Asia – the 18th Asian International Art Exhibition” held in 2003 in the Hong Kong Heritage Museum; “the 10th National Exhibition of Fine Arts, China” held in 2004 in the Guanshanyue Art Museum in Shenzhen; “the Artists in the Neighbourhood III Launching Exhibition” held in 2005; and “the Contemporary Hong Kong Ink Painting Exhibition” in 2006. He currently resides in Hong Kong.

WONG Sau-ching

WONG was born in Fujian, China in 1954, and moved to Hong Kong in 1978. He travelled to the United Kingdom to study modern art at the Central School of Arts and Crafts, London in 1987 and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts in Wimbledon School of Art in London in 1992.

He was invited to attend the World Art Exhibition by the Cultural Ministry of Paris, France in 2000. His painting “Life in Hong Kong” had received the highest award in Third China National Exhibition of Oil Paintings held in Beijing in 2003.

Wong is currently the Vice Chairman and Director of Hong Kong International Art Association, Chairman of the Board of Hong Kong Fringe Club and Chairman of China section of Res Artist, International Association of Residential Arts Centres.

WONG Chau-tung

WONG is the Hong Kong honorary chairman of the Chinese Ink Painting Institute, conference consultant of The Hong Kong Artists Association, chairman of the Hong Kong Culture & Art Exchange Association, founding director of the Chinese Ink Painting Institute (National), Arts Advisor and Examiner of HKADC. He is also a researcher at the Modern Urban Ink Painting Research Institute of the China National Academy of painting, member of the China Artists Association, and distinguishes artist of Shenzhen Fine Art Institute.

YUM Koon-chung

YUM has been passionately devoted to calligraphy practice since he was a child, and he also studied calligraphy from Mr Fan You Sin. In 1983, his calligraphy work was selected for the Hong Kong Contemporary Art Biennial Exhibition and won the Urban Art Award. Over the years, he has participated in joint exhibition, participating by invitation, hosting lectures and judging in more than 80 projects. His works have been collected by Henan Calligraphy Association, Miu Fat Buddhist Monastery and Hong Kong Museum of Art and other institutions.

He has given calligraphy lectures at The Hong Kong Museum of Art, the Jiazi Calligraphy Society, Friends of Shizhai, and Hong Kong Calligraphy Association, sharing his creative experiences with colleagues. A paper on the psychology of calligraphy was published in the first issue of “Hong Kong Art Annual” (1993-1994).

He is the present Calligraphy instructor working at the Hong Kong University School of Professional and Continuing Education (HKU SPACE) and School of Continuing and Professional Studies, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUSCS).

CHU Tat-shing

Graduated and taught at Department of Sculpture, Hubei Institute of Fine Arts in 1965.

Postgraduate of the Department of Sculpture Art of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, appointed as Director of Sculpture Creation Studio, Hubei Institute of Fine Arts in 1980.

Chairman of the Artist Commune in Hong Kong (2003).

Awarded “Medal of Honour” by Hong Kong Government (2007).

Jury of 11th and 12th National Exhibition of Fine Arts of China, Hong Kong Macau and Taiwan Section.

LUI, Eddie

LUI was born in 1947 in Hong Kong. He held his first one-person exhibition at the Goethe Institute in 1973, under the aegis of the Hong Kong Arts Centre. He co-founded the Hong Kong Visual Arts Society in 1974 and led the executive committee as president during the years 1978-1982. In 1981, he received a Hong Kong Museum of Art—Urban Council Fine Arts Award. In recognition of his contributions to the development of visual arts in Hong Kong and his untiring supports towards the Hong Kong Visual Arts Society, he was offered a Saluting VAS40+ Hongkong Arts Award in 2013. In 2017 the University Museum and Art Gallery of The University of Hong Kong presented his one-person exhibition: Art Totems Bridging East & West, and launched his Hong Kong Arts Development Council-sponsored retrospective art book of the same title.

LI Yau-mang

LI graduated with a B.A. degree from the Guangzhou Academy of Fine arts in 1991. In 1995, he was one of the first graduates from The Chinese University of Hong Kong with a M.F.A degree. He is a part-time lecturer of Department of Fine Arts, The Chinese University of Hong Kong since 1998. He also teaches at the Hong Kong Visual Arts Centre of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education. He is a member of the China Artists Association, The Hong Kong Artists Association, and the Alumni Association of the Department of Fine Arts, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. As well as the Minister of the Hong Kong Modern Art Society, the Calligraphy and Painting Study Association of Hong Kong and International Arts Association of Hong Kong. Since 1988, he has held numerous solo exhibitions and group exhibitions. Many of his works had been selected by the Contemporary Hong Kong Art Biennial Exhibitions, and became permanent collection of the Hong Kong Museum of Art, the Hong Kong Heritage Museum, and overseas art institutions and private collections.

In 2000, he was awarded the Artistic Fellowship by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council. In 2002, he was selected as Artist in the Neighbourhood Scheme by Art Promotion Office of Hong Kong. He was awarded Freeman Fellowship by Vermont Studio Centre in 2007.

LI Chor-leuk

Member of the China Calligraphers Association and the China Calligraphers Association HK Branch, Secretary of the China HK Institute of Calligraphy and the HK Calligraphy & Seal Society. Currently teaching Chinese seal carving in the HK Federation of Trade Union and calligraphy in the School of Continuing and Professional Studies of the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

LEE Chi-ching

LEE, born in Hong Kong in 1963, is a distinguished artist renowned for his versatility across multiple mediums including ink painting, oil painting, watercolor, sketching, calligraphy, and comics.

Beginning his professional career in 1981, Lee established himself by creating numerous Hong Kong-style comics throughout the 1980s. His artistic journey expanded in the 1990s through collaborations with Japanese publishers, producing acclaimed historical comics based on classic Chinese literature such as “Romance of the Three Kingdoms”, “Water Margin”, “The Art of War”, and “The Analects of Confucius.”

A significant milestone came in 1998 when Lee co-founded a publishing house with legendary novelist Jin Yong, creating comic adaptations of Jin Yong’s martial arts epics “The Legend of the Condor Heroes” and “The Smiling Proud Wanderer”. During this period, he also illustrated covers for the Japanese editions and revised versions of Jin Yong’s novels.

Lee’s exceptional talent received international recognition in 2007 when his work “The Art of War” won the Best Work Award at the inaugural Japan International Manga Awards. His close association with Jin Yong’s legacy continued as he curated the Jin Yong Gallery exhibition at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum in 2017 and designed Jin Yong-themed postage stamps for Hong Kong Post in 2018.

Since 2019, Lee has served as the chief writer for the literature and arts column of Ming Pao Monthly. His artistic journey continues with his upcoming solo exhibition “Beyond the Image” at the Guangdong Provincial Zhongshan Library in Guangzhou in 2024.

Lee’s works are held in prestigious collections including various museums, The Peninsula Hotel, Hong Kong Jockey Club, and private collections worldwide.

LEI, Dixon

Originally named Lei Desheng, he holds a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts Education from Macao Polytechnic Institute and a Master of Arts from the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts. Currently, Lei serves in several key roles, including Council Member of the China Artists Association, Chairman of the Macao Yat Yuen Painting & Calligraphy Association, and Vice President of both the Macao Art Association and the Macao Ink Art Society. He also contributes as a contract stamp designer for Macao Post and a part-time lecturer at Macao Polytechnic University. Previously, he worked at the Macao Museum of Art.

Lei has won multiple accolades, including five “Best Creative Work Awards” and two “Special Awards” at the Macao Annual Art Exhibition, as well as seven “Top 10 Outstanding Works” at the Macao Visual Arts Exhibition. His work earned him the Second Prize in Chinese Painting at the Macao Art Biennial Award, and he was selected for the 10th, 11th, and 12th National Fine Arts Exhibitions, receiving an “Outstanding Work Award” at the 10th edition. Additionally, his art has been featured in prestigious exhibitions such as the 7th Beijing International Art Biennale, the 12th and 13th China Art Festival’s “National Outstanding Fine Arts Exhibition,” and the China National Academy of Painting’s “Exhibition Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China.”

Many of his works are held in prominent collections, including the National Art Museum of China, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the China Artists Association, the Guangzhou Art Museum, and the Macao Museum of Art, as well as in private collections.

SHEN Ping

SHEN served as a director of the China Artists Association and currently is conference consultant of The Hong Kong Artists Association, Honorary Advisor of Hong Kong Artists Society, Honorary Chairman of Hong Kong Water Colour Research Society, examiner of Visual Arts Panel of Hong Kong Arts Development Council, and director of Hong Kong Cultural and Art Foundation. He is also a course instructor at HKU SPACE and Hong Kong Visual Arts Centre.

SHEN is a prolific and versatile artist. Over the years, his works have been collected by the National Art Museum of China, Hong Kong Museum of Art, Hong Kong Heritage Museum, University Museum and Art Gallery of the University of Hong Kong, Philippe Charriol Foundation, Asian Museum of Watercolour Art, Shanghai Quanhua Watercolour Art Gallery, Sun Hung Kai Group, and private collectors.

ZHOU Jin

ZHOU graduated from China Academy of Art (formerly Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts). From 1997 to 2006, he taught at the Department of Chinese Painting, China Academy of Art and joined the Department of Fine Arts, The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2006. He is now member of China Artists Association and Chinese Painting Institute Hong Kong, and director of The Hong Kong Artists Association. Zhou won various awards including the Hong Kong Contemporary Art Biennial Award (Hong Kong Museum of Art, 2009), Outstanding Artworks Award in the 9th and 10th China National Fine Arts Exhibition, the Silver Award for the Zhejiang section in the 9th Chinese National Fine Arts Exhibition, the Gold Award in the 11th Fine Arts Exhibition of Zhejiang Province, the Silver Award in the Zhejiang Chinese Painting Exhibition, and others. His works are in the collections of Zhejiang Art Museum, Hong Kong Museum of Art, Hong Kong Legislative Council, Art Museum of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, China Academy of Art, Tsinghua University, Zhou Changgu Art Museum, Hangzhou Chinese Painting Academy, Shenzhen Art Institute, and University of Virginia, etc.

Siu-chung, Alex

Born in Hong Kong in 1951, graduated from The School of Design, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and The Guangzhou Academy of Fine Art with a Master Degree.

HO was awarded the Bronze Medal in Europe International Oriental Art Exhibition in 1998, and the First Prize in The Hong Kong Oil Painting Competition in 2012, organized by Hong Kong Oil Painting Research Society. He has participated in the 11th, 12th, and 13th National Fine Art Exhibition, China, “My Land, My People” Invitational Exhibition held by China Artists Association in 2012.

HO’s works have been collected by many institutions including Netherland National Museum (Oriental Art), Museum of Hong Kong University, Hong Kong Museum of Art, Hong Kong Sun Museum, and Hong Kong Asia Art Foundation.

He has published the following art collections “Paintings by Alex Ho,” “Mindscape-Impression,” and “Form-Colour.”

HO’s work is summarized in abstraction. However, it also shows the classic temperament and Chinese elements. The rational spirit of the West and the emotional feelings of the East in the paintings sometimes parallel, sometimes collide, and sometimes merge. At the same time, his works create a poetic space; this space unfolds people wide imagination and thoughts.

LAM Kin-cheung

LAM, courtesy name Yingzhi, pseudonyms Puyuan and Puzhe, was born in November 1946. He is member of the China Calligraphers Association, consultant for the China Guangming Painting and Calligraphy Society, advisor to the Quanzhou Calligraphers Association in Fujian Province, and visiting professor at Quanzhou Normal University. His works have been exhibited in numerous national and international calligraphy exhibitions across Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong (China), the Philippines, Taiwan (China), France, Vietnam, Australia, and other regions, and have been collected by institutions worldwide.

He previously served as deputy editor-in-chief of Hong Kong’s “Shupu” (Calligraphy Spectrum) magazine and vice chairman of the Quanzhou Calligraphers Association. His works have been published in China’s “Shufa” (Calligraphy) magazine, Hong Kong’s “Shupu” magazine, and inscribed in renowned stele forests such as the “Yellow River Stele Forest”, “Shenmo Stele Forest”, and “Zheng Chenggong Stele Forest”. His biography has been included in authoritative references including “China Art Yearbook 1949-1989” and “Dictionary of Chinese Calligraphers Past and Present”.

LAM Wu-fui

LAM was born in Guangdong, China in 1945. He is currently a member of the China Artists Association, Guest Painter of Shenzhen Fine Art Institute, Museum Expert Adviser (Leisure and Cultural Services Department, Hong Kong).

After having graduated from an art academy, Lam became pupil of the renowned masters Liang Bo-yu and Chao Shao-ang. He developed a poetic personal style in painting of flowers, birds, fish, insects, and wild beasts, enriching these traditional themes with liveliness and freshness, spiritual essence of the Lingnan School. Since 1978, he has held solo exhibitions in Hong Kong, Taiwan, across mainland China, as well as internationally including Australia, Canada, England, Germany, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, and the United States. His works were collected by various museums and individual collectors.

His published works include “Drawing Goldfish and Carps,” “Drawing Sea Fish and Tropical Fish,” “Selected Works of Lam Wu Fui,” and “Paintings of Lam Wu Fui” etc. in thirteen volumes.

KING Yeo-chi, Ambrose

KING, a renowned sociologist, political scientist, educator, essayist, and calligrapher, was born in 1936 in Tiantai County, Zhejiang Province. He held various prominent positions at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, including Dean of New Asia College, Head of the Department of Sociology, Chair Professor of Sociology and President of the University. He conducted research visits at the University of Cambridge and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and served as a visiting professor at the University of Wisconsin and Heidelberg University. Currently, he is Emeritus Professor of Sociology at CUHK, an academician of Academia Sinica in Taiwan, and a member of the Xiling Seal Art Society.

SZE Yuk-wong

SZE, also known by his courtesy name Lei’an, literary name Yitang, and studio name Xingyu Xuan, is a dedicated calligrapher, researcher, and educator. As a member of the China Calligraphers Association, he specializes in various script styles, including seal script, clerical script, cursive script, and running script. Currently, he holds several esteemed positions, such as Council Member of the Hong Kong Branch of the China Calligraphers Association, Council Member of the Calligraphy and Painting Study Association of Hong Kong Fukienese, and Specially Invited Instructor at institutions like The Chinese University of Hong Kong’s School of Continuing and Professional Studies, Hong Kong Xiling Academy, and Art Hong Kong. Additionally, he serves as an Advisor for the Baiyun Tang Art Research Association and the Hong Kong Art Instructors Association, as well as a Researcher at the Hong Kong Golden Bauhinia Art Institute.

His artistic achievements include winning the First Prize at the 3rd Fujian Provincial Calligraphy & Seal Carving Exhibition and the Second Prize in the Poetry & Literature Category of the 1st Wu Changshuo Cup International Art Awards. His works have been featured in prestigious exhibitions such as the 2nd National Seal Script Calligraphy Exhibition, the 11th National Calligraphy & Seal Carving Exhibition, and the 10th Xiling Seal Art Society’s Seal Carving Exhibition, among others. Through his creative, academic, and instructional endeavors, he continues to contribute significantly to the field of calligraphy.

SZE San-kuen

SZE, also known as Shutang. Originating from Fujian, he has been immersed in various artistic creations for a long time and is skilled in using the fusion of various materials and different expressive techniques to innovate. Continuously drawing nourishment from Eastern traditions and Western thinking patterns and techniques, Sze strives to express one’s thoughts calmly and authentically. Influenced by family traditions since childhood, he started with Tang Kai and initially learned Yan Zhenqing and Liu Gongquan. Later imitated the various Tang and Song dynasties and their two kings. He is well-versed in Kai, Xing, Cao, and Seal script. After decades of studying the works of various masters, Sze finally becomes a master in his own rights. He is particularly skilled in cursive script and pays attention to integration and innovation while emphasizing on writing quality. He attempts to revitalize traditional calligraphy through the use of comprehensive materials and innovative mounting methods.

His works have been selected for numerous domestic and international calligraphy and painting exhibitions, and have been collected by many institutions and collectors.

LAU Wai-chung

LAU, known artistically as Shanliren – “Man from the Mountain”, was born in Fuzhou in 1963. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the Fuzhou Art and Craft Fine Arts School and later obtained a master’s degree from the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. In 2015, he established his private museum, showcasing his extensive art collection.

Lau’s passion for calligraphy began at the age of eight, leading to over five decades of dedication to the art form. He specializes in clerical script and lowercase Kai styles. His artistic journey includes the publication of calligraphy and painting collections in Hong Kong (2002) and Fuzhou (2012), as well as solo exhibitions in both cities in 2002 and 2006, respectively.

Beyond his calligraphic pursuits, Lau is an enthusiastic collector. His assemblage encompasses thousands of pieces, including furniture, porcelain, paintings, wood carvings, and stone crafts from the Ming and Qing Dynasties, as well as the Republic of China era. His expertise in the field led to his role as executive director of the Fujian Collectors Association.

In the realm of design, Lau has collaborated with national, provincial, and city government organizations, as well as provincial enterprises and international private entities, over the past two decades. His work in logo design has been recognized with accolades such as the China Star Award and various provincial design awards.

Currently, Lau holds memberships in several esteemed organizations such as The Hong Kong Artists Association, Hong Kong Art Researching Association, and Fujian Calligraphy Association. He is also a Secretary General of the Hong Kong International Art Association (Fuzhou). Through these affiliations, Lau continues to contribute significantly to the art and calligraphy communities.

HUNG Keung

Prof. Hung Keung studied art in Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Switzerland, earning a Ph.D. in Philosophy. He has taught art in Denmark and participated in research residencies across the United States, Australia, and Canada, where he focused on new media art projects. From 2001 to 2002, he was a visiting scholar at Germany’s ZKM Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe—a pioneering institution for digital and experimental art. His academic accolades include the DAAD Scholarship (German Academic Exchange Scholarship) and the Desiree and Hans Michael Jebsen Fellowship from the Asian Cultural Council (ACC).

Currently serving as a Professor in the Department of Cultural and Creative Arts (CCA) and Programme Leader of the Master’s programme, Prof. Hung is renowned for his innovative integration of interactive installations, short films, new media, and Chinese artistic aesthetics. His practice reimagines traditional elements such as calligraphy and ink art through digital technology, crafting immersive environments where audiences actively shape the creative process. In recent projects, he interrogates contemporary video and interactive art through spiritual and philosophical lenses, exploring themes of religion, nature, meditation, and cosmic concepts like mountain, water, ink, time, and emptiness.

WOO, Mathias

WOO, the Co-Artistic Director cum Executive Director of Zuni Icosahedron. Woo is a pioneer in cross-boundary and multi-media theatre who studied architecture; he is a scriptwriter, director, designer, producer, art educationist, cultural policy critic as well as curator with a portfolio of more than seventy original theatre works, which have been invited to over twenty cities around the globe and major cities China. His productions include “Hua-Yen Sutra,” “1587, A Year of No Significance,” “Eighteen Springs,” “The Architecture of The City,” and “East Wing West Wing Series”.

In 2009, Woo initiated and curated Architecture is Art Festival, the first of its kind themed on architecture in Hong Kong. Through theatrical performances, exhibitions, talks, conference and other art forms, the festival showed levels of knowledge, aesthetics and brought about critical thinking and discussions. Since 2017, Woo curated and designed the Z Innovation Lab that focused on integrating the latest stage technology and innovative ideas.

In 2012, he with “Looking for Mies” was awarded by the Hong Kong Design Centre DFA Merit Award. In 2013, Woo was awarded the Arts and Cultural Figure of the Year in Shenzhen and Hong Kong Lifestyle Award by “Southern Metropolitan Daily”. His work “The Architecture of The City” has received “DFA Design for Asia Awards 2018 – Silver Award,” and “Silver A’ Design Award in Performing Arts, Style and Scenery Design Category” in 2019. In 2020, “Z Innovation Lab 2019” garnered the “Red Dot Award under Brand & Communication.”

FAN, Bob

Originally named FAN Kai-yeung, Bob.

Fan graduated from Ling Hoi Art Institute in 1970 and began teaching there as an art instructor in 1972. In 1974, he founded the 1st Fashion Institue. His artistic career reached a milestone in 1980 with an exhibition at Hong Kong City Hall, and he concurrently served as a drawing tutor at Ching Ying Design Institute. The following year (1981), his work was selected for the prestigious Hong Kong Art Biennial Exhibition. After emigrating to France in 1992, he returned to Hong Kong in 1994. He has dedicated himself to art education starting in 2006.

Fan held a solo exhibition at the Hong Kong Visual Arts Centre in 2011, followed by the showcase “The Other Side of the Triangle Prism” at the same venue in 2012. In 2015, he participated in the trio exhibition “Harvesting in Arts,” and in 2020, he joined the “4 Painters Art Show.” His latest solo exhibition “TRACE · ILLUSORY · WOOD TALE” was held at the Hong Kong Visual Arts Centre in 2024, marking a continued exploration of his artistic vision.

NI Xinguang

NI, born in 1969, settled in Hong Kong, China. He has loved calligraphy and painting since childhood. After graduating from Fuzhou Normal School in 1987, he worked as an art teacher for six years. During this period, he won many national awards and published articles in important journals. In 2005, he graduated with a master’s degree from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. He was the director of the Shanghai Office of the Fujian Federation of Literary and Art Circles. He is currently a member of the Hong Kong Branch of the Chinese Calligraphers Association, a director of the Fujian Calligraphy Association, and a member of The Hong Kong Artists Association. He started his own business in 1995 and founded the Seven Stars Group in August 1998, listed on the Hong Kong Main Board in 2005 (0245HK), and Ni served as the chairman of the board.

He learned calligraphy from famous calligraphers Cao Baolin and Xu Liming, and his brushwork imitated the styles of Wang, Sun, Yan, and Mi, pursuing a style of calligraphy that is appreciated by both the refined and the popular. He is good at painting bamboo and has his style even though he is close to the ancient times. He pursues bamboo’s sunny and upward spirit, and his painting style is full of ancient charm. Since October 1, 2018, he has written a Heart Sutra every morning, and his cursive, regular, and running scripts are all excellent. So far, he has created nearly 2,000 Heart Sutras in more than 2,000 days. This kind of creation has never been done before, and he will continue to create unremittingly. He likes to do good deeds and often donates the Heart Sutras he writes to various organizations and people in need. He believes that he will leave a unique story in the long history of artistic creation.

YUNG, Mavis

Born in Hong Kong. Graduated from the School of Traditional Chinese Painting, the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts (GAFA) with a bachelor’s degree in Flower-and-Bird Paintings. She also graduated from the School of Traditional Chinese Painting, Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) with a master’s degree in Flower-and-Bird Paintings.

YUNG is a director of The Hong Kong Artists Association. She is also a second batch member painter of the “Guangzhou National Young Painters Scheme (Qing Miao Scheme)”.

CHUI Tze-hung, Montgo

CHUI, painter and writer, was born in Hong Kong in 1936.

His works were collected by Hong Kong Museum of Art, Vice President of the United States of American Art Gallery, Fung Ping Shan Museum, Hong Kong University, Museum Luis de Camoes, Singapore National Art Gallery and Hong Kong Heritage Museum, etc.

He has been featured in “Who’s Who in Hong Kong,” “Reference Asia,” “Who’s Who in Australia and Far East,” “International Biography,” “The Contemporary Chinese Painters,” and “The Elites of Hong Kong Macau.” After winning the award of International Art Competition, he was granted Fellowship by U.S. national Endowment of Art as resident in “Artist’ Colonies” in 1988. And also was the official guest invited by U.S. government to visit U.S. Chui also won the UC Biennial Art Awards, 1978 (Painting) and 1988 (Calligraphy). Chui was interviewed by CNN for his establishment in art as calligrapher in 2001. His calligraphy was selected for the H.K. Art Collection Special Stamps $1.30, 2002. He has written three books, “Beyond the Painters’ Brush”, “Art Talk ․ Art Circle,” and “The H.K Art Scene”.

CHUI Pui-chee

Born in Hong Kong in 1980, Dr Chui apprenticed under Mr Jat See-yeu and Professor Wang Dong-ling. After graduated from Queen’s College, Hong Kong in 1999, Dr Chui received his first degree from the Department of Fine Arts of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). He furthered his postgraduate studies at the Department of Chinese Calligraphy of China Academy of Art, where he obtained his Master of Arts and Doctoral Degree.

In 2012, Dr Chui received the Hong Kong Contemporary Art Awards – Young Artist Award, presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. He also received the Award for Young Artist (Visual Arts) at the Hong Kong Arts Development Awards 2015 organised by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council. He was a finalist of The Sovereign Asian Art Prize 2015, 2018, and 2020. Some of Dr Chui’s artworks were collected by the Hong Kong Museum of Art, Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archaeology of University of Oxford and private collectors. Recent selected exhibitions: “Classics Remix: The Hong Kong Viewpoint,” “Dawn Chorus, Happen with HART,” “The 2020 Sovereign Asian Art Prize: Shortlisted Finalists Exhibition,” “New Rhythm of Line – Contemporary Hong Kong Ink Art,” and “City Rhymes: The Melodious Notes of Calligraphy.”

Yick-hang, Anne

From a young age, Anne has studied under renowned masters such as Wu Yangmu, Fu Baoshi, and Ya Ming. She graduated from the Department of Chinese Painting at the Suzhou School of Arts and Crafts. She participated in various art festivals and exhibitions globally, including the World Art Festival themed “Tomorrow” in Seoul, solo exhibitions in Sydney and Melbourne, Australia, as well as in Hong Kong at the One Gallery, and participated in the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Ink Art Exchange Exhibition, as well as exhibitions in mainland China, Taiwan, Southeast Asia, South Korea, Russia, etc. Her works have been collected by various institutions and private collectors. Currently, she holds positions as director of The Hong Kong Artists Association, director of the Chinese Ink Painting Institute Hong Kong, vice president of the Hong Kong Cultural and Arts Exchange Association, vice chairman of the HK Art of Nature International Feminist Art Research Society, member of the Hong Kong Writers’ Association, among others.

Chun Ling Suet

Known as Chun Ling Suet in the art circles, LEE Tai Chou is originally from Nam On Fukien, who has been living in Hong Kong for more than half a century.

Lee graduated from Jinan University, in which he majored in Chinese language and literature study. He is a member of both China Writers Association and China Calligraphers Association. He is also the vice chairman of China Calligraphers Association Hong Kong Division and deputy president of Calligraphy & Painting Study of Hong Kong Fukienese.

Many of Lee’s literary works have been bound into books, including poetry anthologies, collections of essays, as well as art reviews, ten kinds in total. Three types of Lee’s calligraphy have also been published in books. Lee was once awarded the Silver Prize in a worldwide Chinese calligraphy competition.

KO, Kassia

KO graduated from Hong Kong Polytechnic, Department of Industrial Design. She was elected as a MSIAD in 1982, Member of Society of Industrial Artists & Designers, incorporated by Royal Charter. She completed the Master of Fine Arts program at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, conferred in conjunction with the Hong Kong Art School in 2013. Since then, she has been invited by the RMIT University annually to run an artist talk to MFA and BA students on her graduation project ‘Ma Wan Landscape: from Distance and Up Close’ for ten years. The thesis has been collected by the library of the University of Hong Kong and Asia Art Archive. Currently, Ko is the secretary of the Chinese Ink Painting Institute Hong Kong, Hong Kong Art Development Council Examiner, member of China Artists Association, committee member of China Female Artist’s Painting Association, committee member of Hong Kong Artists’ Association and is invited as the member of the assessor board of Ink Global 2020. Her solo ink exhibition included: ‘Imprint’ at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre in 2014, ‘The Art of Kassia Ko’ in Ink Asia 2017, ‘Before & After’ in Hong Kong 3812 Gallery 2022, and ‘The Art Realm of Kassia Ko’ in Ink Asia 2024. Her work has been featured at many art events in Hong Kong (Art Basal, Ink Asia, Fine Art Asia, Art Central) and has been collected by Dunhuang Academy, international hotels and private collectors.

OU Da-wei

OU was born in Guangzhou in 1947, and Yunfu city is his ancestral home. Since 1961, He studied Chinese calligraphy and the art of seal carving with the distinguished artist Wu Zi Fu. He then self-learnt painting and writing poems.

From 1987 onwards, he has held ten individual exhibitions, including a tour exhibition “Ink is Colour”, organized by The Leisure and Cultural Services Department from 2011 to 2013. Sun Museum has organized a solo exhibition for Ou Da Wei in 2019.

In 1989, he was awarded the Hong Kong Urban Council Fine Arts Award in Calligraphy. In 1998, he received the Hong Kong Urban Council Fine Arts Award in Seal Engraving and the Hong Kong Arts Development Council Award for Artistic Development. In 2015, he was awarded the Grand Prize of World Calligraphy Biennale of Jeollabuk-do, South Korea.

His 14 publications include the Selected Seals by Ou Da Wei series as well as the Selected Brushworks series.

He is now a museum expert adviser of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, examiner of Hong Kong Arts Development Council (Visual Arts session), member of the China Calligraphers Association, and member of Calligraphers Association of Guangdong Province. He was an adjudicator of Hong Kong Art Biennial Exhibition in 2005 and Macau Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition in 1999 and 2012. He is the Permanent Honourary Chairman of the Chinese art association “Mo-She”.

He was one of the awardees of Secretary for Home Affair’s Commendation Scheme.

ZHANG Wei, Luna

Graduated from the Chinese Painting Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts. Currently member of the China Artists Association, The Hong Kong Artists Association, and the China Women Artists Association, director of the Hong Kong Contemporary Ink Research Association, and painter at the Li Keran Youth Painting Institute.

Has been invited multiple times to participate in international art exchange exhibitions in Hong Kong, mainland China, Paris, New York, Japan, Nigeria, and other countries.

Works have been selected for the 12th and 13th National Art Exhibitions, the China National Art Museum and Li Keran Painting Institute Annual Ink Invitation Exhibition, and the China National Academy of Painting Establishment Anniversary Ink Invitation Exhibition.

The work “Ancient Sentiments, New Trends” has been collected by the Art Museum of the China National Academy of Painting.

Published several personal collections of works and related academic articles.

LEUNG, Pseudonym: Ging Sau Tong, is originally from Guangdong. Member of the China Calligraphers Association, member of the Hong Kong Chapter of the China Calligraphers Association, member of HKL&A, executive committee member of the Hong Kong Chinese Calligraphy Society, executive committee member of the Hong Kong Calligraphers Association, and member of the Hong Kong Cursive Script Calligraphy Institute.

Leung holds a Higher Diploma Certificate in Chinese Calligraphy Creation and Theoretical Studies from the School of Continuing and Professional Studies, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. His works have been selected for the 13th National Exhibition of Calligraphy and Seal Carving, and the 5th Beijing International Calligraphy Biennale, among various other awards and exhibitions.

CHAN Man-kam

CHAN (MK Chan) was born in Fujian. He is a renowned nephrologist and was head of the renal team at HKU and visiting professor to several Chinese Universities. Dr. Chan is versed in classical Chinese poetry and has published nine volumes totalling over 3000 poems, aiming to promote the role of classical poetry in modern society. He has a keen interest in the cursive style of Chinese calligraphy and has exhibited, on his own as well as with fellow artists, in Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, and many other cities in China as well as USA. He often writes his own poems and does not contrive his calligraphy in the manner of prevailing fashion. His work is well received by calligraphy zealots and by various museums.

CHAN Shing-kau

CHAN graduated from the Department of Art of Grantham College of Education, the Chinese Faculty of the Hong Kong Baptist University and finished a diploma course in modern ink painting at the Extramural Studies of The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

He studied modern Chinese ink painting under Professor Liu Guosong and Chinese Calligraphy, Seal Carving under Professor Ma Kwok Kuen. He is member of the China Artists Association, the International Chinese Ink Painting Association, Chairman of the Hong Kong Modern Ink Painting Society, Vice-chairman of the Chinese Chen Clan Association of Chinese Calligraphy and Paintings, Consultant of the Contemporary Innovative Ink Painting Association, Visiting Professor of the Sheng Da College, Part-time Instructor of the School of Continuing and Professional Studies The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and Adjudicator of the Ink Global 2017 & 2020.

Chan has held 20 self-exhibitions and hundreds of joint exhibitions in Hong Kong, China and Overseas.

CHAN C. H. Raymond

CHAN was born in Hong Kong in 1974. He holds a master degree in architecture. He has taught briefly in the Hong Kong Art School and PolyU HKCC. Chan works as an artist and calligrapher apart from running his design studio PLY Union.

Chan is currently Chairman of the Hong Kong Calligraphers’ Association, Advisor of the Hongkong General Calligraphy Association, General Secretary of the Hong Kong Cursive Script Calligraphy Academy, Member of the Hong Kong Branch of China Calligraphers Association.

CHAN Yuk-keung, Kurt

Prof. CHAN was graduated from the Department of Fine Arts, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He then obtained his M.F.A. from the Cranbrook Academy of Art, Michigan, U.S.A. He joined The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1989, and taught there for 27 years. After his retirement, he took office as the deputy director of Hong Kong Art School from 2019-2021.

Chan is an artist as well as an educator, his research interests cover a wide range of topics such as Hong Kong Art, Art in Public Realm and Mixed Media, whereas the outputs mostly presented as exhibition, curatorship, and publication.

CHEN Wei

CHEN was born in Suzhou, Jiangsu. He graduated from the Painting Department of Suzhou Academy of Fine Arts, completed the undergraduate course of landscape painting in the Chinese Painting Department of the China Academy of Art, and completed the master’s degree course in the landscape painting major of the Chinese Painting School of the Central Academy of Fine Arts. He is currently member of the Chinese Artists Association, director of The Hong Kong Artists Association, examiner of the Visual Arts Committee of the Hong Kong Arts Development Council, and member of the Chinese Painting Society (Hong Kong). He once served as a guest lecturer and landscape painting course instructor at the School of Professional and Continuing Education of the University of Hong Kong. Currently, he is a specially appointed Chinese painting course instructor at Xiling Academy in Hong Kong. Over the years, his works have participated in various joint exhibitions, academic invitational exhibitions, twin-city exhibitions and nomination exhibitions, etc. Some of his works have participated in various major exhibitions in the mainland and won awards. Some of his works have been exhibited by the Liaison Office of the Central Government in Hong Kong, China International Art Exhibition Corporation, Dunhuang Academy, Guangzhou CPPCC, Nanjing Cultural Bureau and other government agencies, literary and art groups and individual collections. Some of his works and papers have been published in professional magazines and newspapers such as “Art Front·Chen Weijuan,” “Chinese Art,” “Artist,” “Art Hong Kong,” “Ta Kung Pao,” “Guangzhou Daily” and so on.

MAK, Winnie

MAK was born in 1956 in Hong Kong. She studied Chinese ink painting and calligraphy in Calgary, Canada in the 1970s. She attended workshops conducted by the late Mr. LEE Byng, the foremost painter from Hong Kong, and the late Mr. Chin Shek LAM, a leading contemporary Chinese ink painter based in Canada.

She was recognised with a Honorary Award and a Special Jury Award at the IPC International Mini Print 2024 and the IPC International Mini Prints 2020 respectively. The international mini print invitational exhibition is organised by the International Printmaking Center of the Taiwan Normal University in Taipei. Mak currently lives and works in Hong Kong as a full-time visual artist specialising in contemporary ink and print-making, and project management.

FUNG Ming-Chip

Born in Guangdong, China 1951 and moved to Hong Kong 1956. Worked after completing primary school. Immigrated to New York in 1977, living between New York, Hong Kong and Taiwan since 1986. 2006 settled in Hong Kong.

His works have been exhibited in museums internationally, including Taipei Fine Arts Museum and Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, and are collected by museums worldwide including Metropolitan Museum of Art, Brooklyn Museum, Princeton University Art Museum, Asian Art Museum, San Francisco, Harvard University Museum, Ashmolean Museum, Oxford University, White Rabbit Collection, Sydney, Jerusalem Museum, Israel, and Hong Kong Museum of Art.

WONG Hau-kwei

WONG apprenticed under the renowned master of Chinese ink art, Huang Zhou, in the 1970s. He later moved to Hong Kong.

In 2024, he was awarded Artist of the Year at the 18th Hong Kong Arts Development Awards. Six times his works have been selected for the Contemporary Hong Kong Art Biennial Exhibition and have received awards in 2001, 2009, and 2012. Additionally, he has been honoured with the Secretary for Home Affairs’ Commendation twice in Hong Kong.

One of his notable works, “Moving Clouds and Water in the Three Gorges,” has been distinguished as one of the most important Chinese artworks of the last century, as it was featured in “Chinese Art in the 20th Century – Collection of the National Art Museum of China,” published by the National Art Museum of China.

YANG Huang

Originally named Yang Xinpei, also known by his art name Zixuan, with the literary appellations Chailu and Shangren Lou. He currently holds memberships in the China Calligraphers Association and the HKL&A. He served as a delegate to the 8th National Congress of the China Calligraphers Association. Additionally, he is council member of the Hong Kong Chapter of the China Calligraphers Association, director of the Hong Kong Fujian Painting and Calligraphy Research Association, member of the Fujian Provincial Calligraphers Association, and honorary director of the Quanzhou City Calligraphers Association. His works have been featured in numerous national exhibitions and the Hong Kong Art Biennial Exhibition, with pieces collected by art museums and museums. He has published the monograph “Yang Huang Calligraphy.”

YEUNG, May

YEUNG is an internationally acclaimed sculptor and founder of M.Y. Sculpture, an art and design studio that specialises in designing public art installations and curating exhibitions. She graduated with dual degrees in Visual Arts and Political Science from the University of Chicago.

She was the first Asian artist to exhibit at Chicago Union Station and the Rockefeller Chapel with “Citation” and “#,”. In 2015, she exhibited “Cocoon” at the residence of the Consul General of the Netherlands in Hong Kong. Yeung was also among the few local artists selected to participate in Hong Kong’s French May Arts Festival. Recently, she participated in Discovery Art Fair Frankfurt 2024 and Art Expo Lisbon 2025 at the National Museum of Ropes in Portugal.

Yeung’s accolades include the Top 10 Outstanding Young Artists Award (2019), the Hong Kong Professional Elite Ladies Selection Award (2020), the Youth Dream Makers Award (2021), and the Hong Kong Culture and Creativity Industries Award (2024).

KAN Tai-keung

Dr. Kan Tai Keung SBS BBS AGI. As a world-renowned artist and designer, Kan learned Chinese ink painting with Lui Shou-kwan in 1967. Kan was an active member of Hong Kong New Ink Movement and served as the Former Chairman of One Art Group. Being exhibited in both local and overseas, Kan’s works are widely collected by museums including M+ Museum; Hong Kong Museum of Art; Hong Kong Heritage Museum; The University of Hong Kong; National Art Museum of China; Guangdong Art Museum; Taiwan Provincial Art Museum; The Art Society of the International Monetary Fund Washington in U. S. A.; Minneapolis Institute of Art, U.S.A.; Victoria & Albert Museum British; The Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archaeology, University of Oxford etc. Kan has earned numerous awards including Award of Urban Council Fine Art (1981), The 2nd Hsiung Shih Biennial Award (1987), Artist of the Year Award, Hong Kong (1991), he was also awarded the Outstanding Artists and Designers of the 20th Century in UK (2000). Kan is now the Honorary Dean of the Cheung Kong School of Art and Design, Shantou University, the museum expert adviser of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the Honorary Adviser of Hong Kong Museum of Art and the Advisor of China Federation of Literary and Art Circles Hong Kong Member Association Limited.

LIU Tung-mui

LIU is the resident artist of the Arts with the Disabled Association Hong Kong. In 2000, she was the first runner-up in the poster design competition at the “5th International Abilympics” (Czech Republic). She is a recipient of the “2005 Ten Outstanding Young Persons Award” and the Medal of Honour (M.H.) award by the HKSAR for her exemplary efforts in pursuing a meaningful life through painting despite her disability, and for her valuable contribution to charity activities. She is one of the torch-bearers in Beijing 2008 Paralympics and the candidates of ATV “Hong Kong Top Ten Loving Hearts Selection Campaign” in 2010.

Born with cerebral palsy, Liu taught herself painting over the years and actively participated in numerous local and international art exhibitions and competitions, achieving remarkable results. Her artworks are characterized by bold, vigorous strokes and vibrant colours, radiating an infectious joy that reflects her resilient spirit. Beyond painting, she has expanded her artistic practice in recent years to include ceramics and wheelchair dance. Through diverse mediums, she demonstrates the immense vitality of life and the boundless possibilities of human potential. She frequently visits schools, sharing her personal journey to inspire others.

LAU Siu-hong, Freeman

Renowned Designer, Artist and Curator. Over the past 40 years, Freeman’s contribution to the design sector and Hong Kong’s society is widely recognised, achieving over 300 international art and design awards. In 1992, Lau was Champion of Sculpture Section, Philippe Charriol’s Modern Art Competition. In 1994 & 1998, he received Urban Council Fine Arts Awards and received Mid-American Art Alliance Awards in 1997. In 2021, he was named “DFA World’s Outstanding Chinese Designer”.

As an artist, Lau has created a wide spectrum of artworks, including sculptures, installations, public arts and even art products. Apart from his highly reputed “Chairplay” series which has been collected by museums all over the world, in recent years, he has also been working on bamboo installations including “Sui Sui Ping An” – a gigantic bamboo lantern installation shown in San Francisco in 2017, as well as the “Bamboo Fortune Cookies” shown in Hong Kong Heritage Museum in 2015 and Suzhou in 2016.

As a curator, Lau co-curated the “By the People: Creative Chinese Characters” exhibition at the Hong Kong Museum of Art in 2022. In 2024, he curated the “Loong Legacies” exhibition at the Hong Kong Central Library and “Design Pulse Asia” at DX design hub (Hong Kong Design Centre).

CHOI Hoi-ying

CHOI studied at Linghai Academy of Art, the diploma course of Chinese Ink Painting at Hong Kong School of Continuing Studies, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and got the Master Degree of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts. He was the art teacher of Linghai Academy of Art, the lecturer of Fine Arts Department in Xi Jiang University (China) and Hong Kong Visual Arts Centre, Culture Promotion and Events Office, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Hong Kong Baptist University.

He has held numerous Exhibitions. The big installation ink work “Moon Over The Flowing Stream” which is collected by Hong Kong Museum of Art, had been selected in the exhibition “Ink Art: Innovation and Beyond” presented by Leisure and Cultural Services Department in 2008. Choi was invited as the conference speaker for Hong Kong Museum of Art and Hong Kong Arts Development Council.

The awards he got include Urban Council Fine Arts Award in Hong Kong, Price of Kunststation Kleinsassen Gallery Liebau in Germany, Freeman Fellowship, Vermont Studio Centre in U.S.A., a Bronze Prize in The New Millennium Art Exhibition by Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan Artists, 2000, an Outstanding Prize on the 2000 International Oriental Art Exhibition in Holland.

His art works are collected by museums, and other art institutions in local and overseas.

His publication includes “Encounters with The Universe–The Creative Works of Choi Hoi Ying,” “Ink Works of Choi Hoi Ying,” “Ink Work Installation by Choi Hoi Ying,” and “Spiritual Adventures in Ink”.

CHENG Pei-kai

Prof. Pei-kai Cheng, cultural historian. He graduated from Yale, Ph.D in history. He is Chairman of Hong Kong Branch of Chinese Folk Literature and Art Association, Academic Advisor to Our Hong Kong Foundation, President of Jigu Institute, University Professor at Fengjia University in Taiwan, and visiting professor at Zhejiang University. He founded the Chinese Civilization Center at City University of Hong Kong, served as Chairman of Hong Kong Intangible Cultural Heritage Consultation Committee, and was awarded Merit of Honor by Hong Kong government in 2016. His research interests cover a wide spectrum of academic subjects on Chinese culture, such as late Ming culture and Tang Xianzu, transcultural aesthetics, tea culture, Chinese export porcelain, and English translation of Chinese classics. He has written and edited more than 100 books. He was honored as one of the 2023 Forbes Top 100 Craftsmen.

LAW, Karl

Graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from Hong Kong Baptist University and a Master’s degree from the Central Academy of Fine Arts. His practice focuses on curatorial studies and the contemporary interpretation of traditional and intangible cultural heritage (ICH). He served as the Executive Curator for “Art Macao: Macao International Art Biennale 2023,” “The Magnificent Landscape” Hong Kong Artists Exhibition, and “New Youth – Experimental Art Biennale 2024”. His artworks and curatorial projects have been exhibited in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Hong Kong, Macau, Yunnan, Wuhan, and Jingdezhen.

YANG Beiya

Holds a Bachelor’s degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Master’s degree from the State University of New York. Her interdisciplinary work explores craft technology, material innovation, community-building, and material sustainability. She led projects such as the 2024 Shenzhen Pingshan District Wellness Center Art Therapy Program and the Pingshan Art Museum Art Delivery Project. Her creations have been featured at the Beijing International Design Week, Shanghai Pudong Library, and international jewelry weeks in New York, Spain, France, Athens, and Germany. Recognized in the Sino-Italian Contemporary Art Annual, Beijing Design Week catalogs, and as the cover feature for New York Jewelry Week’s official website.

KWAN, Sharmaine

KWAN is an award-winning multidisciplinary artist known for her impressive portfolio showcased in major art cities like London, Dubai, and Hong Kong. Her work has gained significant recognition from both local and international audiences, establishing her as a versatile creative force. Kwan has collaborated with esteemed brands such as YouTube, Henderson Land Development, and Cathay Pacific, demonstrating her ability to merge her creative vision with each brand’s essence. She is also skilled in digital art, with works displayed at events like the Digital Art Fair Asia and the Theatre of Digital Art Dubai. Her art has received extensive media coverage, featured in publications like Tatler and Prestige, and on TVB and RTHK. Sharmaine Kwan’s artistic journey reflects a pursuit of excellence and a boundless creative vision that continues to inspire audiences worldwide.

Kwan’s artwork explores Hong Kong’s vibrant neon heritage and the significance of its decline. During the peak of the neon era in the 1980s, the city featured over 100,000 neon signs that enriched its atmosphere. However, rapid modernization and regulation changes have led to the disappearance of many of these iconic signs, fostering nostalgia and a desire for preservation. Kwan employs various media, including traditional glass, LED, digital art, painting, sculpture, and installation, to celebrate neon’s beauty and cultural relevance while anticipating the future. Her work reflects the city’s evolving culture and seeks to revive the spirit of neon through modern interpretations inspired by memories of its golden era. Her art responds to increasing efforts to document and preserve this visual vernacular, using neon signs as a case study to examine the interplay between Western views of vernacular design and Hong Kong’s distinct cultural identity. Overall, Kwan’s innovative approach highlights the sociocultural implications of neon, weaving a narrative that honors its legacy while looking forward.
