Introduciton

Chinese painting and calligraphy, steeped in over a millennium of exceptional cultural and artistic traditions, share the same artistic language and highly interconnected. Their integration represents a creative endeavour that is both rooted in and transcends tradition. The exhibition will showcase innovative works of 60 of Hong Kong’s most representative calligraphers and painters. These creations will demonstrate the deconstruction and reimagining of traditional calligraphic art through contemporary interpretations, exploring diverse concepts, multimedia artistic practices, and the expressive possibilities between brushstrokes and rhythmic vitality. The public will gain insight into the nuanced interplay between these art forms. To complement the exhibition, academic symposium and public art workshops will be designed to deepen public understanding of Chinese calligraphy and painting traditions.
